Herspective draws inspiration from the Paris Olympics, where media coverage often fixated on female athletes' appearances while overlooking their achievements. This interactive rotating installation aims to highlight such biased yet common perspectives on women, in which their exceptional abilities are frequently overshadowed by superficial discussions about their physical appearance.
Herspective combines "Her" and "Perspective," focusing on how women are viewed. From a distance, the audience sees stereotypical, black-and-white depictions of women, emphasizing physical appearance and female-dominated professions. As the viewer moves closer to the installation, the displays rotates 180 degrees and reveals their often-overlooked talent—intellect, skill, and resilience—shown in vibrant colors. This installation critiques the media’s overemphasis on superficial elements about women, encouraging the audience to “look closer” and recognize their true talents and contributions to the world.
